Citizenship

At American Securities, citizenship is intrinsic to our stewardship—an active commitment to the long-term vitality of our companies and communities. Rooted in heritage, this responsibility is woven into the fabric of our firm.

A Living Tradition

Our commitment to citizenship traces back to the firm’s original investors—the heirs of Julius Rosenwald, the president and primary owner of Sears, Roebuck & Co. in the early 1900s. Rosenwald was a pioneer of the “give while you live” philosophy, dedicating much of his fortune to philanthropy and advocating for partnerships that could bridge the racial divide.

That spirit of stewardship continues at American Securities today, reflected in our investment practices, company culture, and the work of American Securities Foundation.

Responsible
Investment

We believe environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors are fundamental to both risk mitigation and long-term value creation.

We include financially-material environmental ESG matters in our investment analysis to address potential risks, assess and enhance operational and management capabilities, and capitalize on sustainability tailwinds to drive value and resilience in the essential economy.

Principles in Practice

A Culture of
Inclusion

We are committed to an environment that promotes and values diversity of backgrounds and viewpoints—a commitment that has long underpinned the firm’s values.

We seek to uphold an environment in which all colleagues have the opportunity to grow and to advance a collaborative, respectful culture that enables each of us to do our best work in supporting our firm’s mission. As such, we endeavor to establish a firm culture that attracts, recruits, supports, and retains colleagues of all identities and backgrounds. And we strive to build a culture of collaborative participation in which all voices are encouraged, heard, and respected, thereby fostering a sense of belonging for all colleagues.

Community
Impact

American Securities is committed to strengthening the communities in which we live and work. Through charitable donations, volunteer activities, and firm-wide events, our colleagues support local nonprofits focused on education, food security, workforce development, and community services.

Giving back, Together

American Securities Foundation turns individual contributions into collective impact through two programs: the Giving Back Grant, which allows each administrative colleague to direct a donation to a charity of their choice, and the Matching Gift Program, which matches donations made by colleagues up to an annual amount. Both programs amplify the causes that matter most to our team.
