John Lundgren
Former Chairman & CEO of Stanley Black & Decker
John Lundgren is the former Chairman & CEO of Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE: SWK), an $18 billion diversified global leading provider of tools and storage, commercial electronic security and engineered fastening systems. He retired on April 30, 2017 after a 12+-year tenure during which revenues grew more than 5x, market capitalization increased more than 7x, with total shareholder return exceeding 400%, significantly outpacing the S&P 500.
Prior to joining Stanley Black & Decker, Lundgren spent 25 years at Georgia Pacific (NYSE:GP), including predecessor companies American Can Dixie-Northern Consumer Products, James River and Fort James. At Georgia Pacific, he held roles of increasing responsibility across business development, strategic planning, corporate development, marketing, and product management, leading to regional and business unit President roles. Lundgren spent 14 of his 25 years with Georgia Pacific abroad, primarily in Europe, including running its International Consumer Products business where he built a market leading pan-European business from a disparate group of regional operating entities. He began his career in product management at Gillette Co.
While at Stanley Black & Decker, Mr. Lundgren served on the Business Roundtable, and as the Vice Chairman and member of the Executive Committee of NAM (National Association of Manufacturers), the President’s Advisory Council of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Dartmouth Athletics Advisory Board, G100, Prium, the Business Council, and was a Trustee of the Connecticut Science Center, and Chairman of the New England Chapter of CEO’s Against Cancer.
He was a Senior Advisor to Bain & Company (2017-2023) and currently serves as the non-executive Chairman of Visa (NYSE: V) and Topgolf Callaway Brands (NYSE: MODG), Lead Independent Director of Pella Corp., on the board of the Chamberlain Group, and the Advisory Board of American Securities, a leading New York based private equity firm. He is a National Trustee of both The First Tee and The PGA Reach Foundation.
Mr. Lundgren is a cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College and holds an MBA degree from Stanford University. He is married to Tamara Lundgren, CEO of Radius Recycling (NASDAQ: RDUS), which made them the only married CEOs in the Fortune 1000.
