Shanghai United Walkathon

We organized a team to take part in the Shanghai United Walkathon. They walked up to 50 kilometers and raised money for non-governmental programs for children in China.

On a rainy and cold day in April 2013, the team from American Securities’ Shanghai office and an executive from one of our portfolio companies, Unifrax, took part in the Shanghai United Walkathon – A Charity Walk for Kids in Shanghai Pudong.

The event was a fundraiser for non-governmental programs for children, including assistance for malnourished children in western China and children who suffered in the Ya’an earthquake. It attracted more than 2,000 participants from 400 teams, 150 of which were corporate teams.

The walkathon ran 12 hours from 7:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. over 50 kilometers and raised RMB 4.29 million (approximately $700,000).

The American Securities team raised RMB 12, 470 (approximately $2,000). In spite of the rain, everyone had a great time and two of our colleagues completed the entire 50 kilometer course!
