Ken MacKenzie
Former Chairman of the Board of BHP Group & Former Chief Executive Officer of Amcor
Ken MacKenzie is an experienced global board chair and former chief executive with deep expertise in industrial operations, business transformation, capital allocation and long-term value creation.
He recently retired as Chair of the Board of BHP Group, the world’s largest diversified mining company, where he oversaw governance, strategy, CEO succession, and shareholder engagement during a period of significant portfolio reshaping, capital discipline, and sustainability transition.
Ken currently serves as Chair of Melbourne Business School, Australia’s leading graduate business school, and is Chair-elect of Wesfarmers Limited, one of Australia’s largest listed companies with a diversified portfolio spanning retail, industrials, chemicals, and energy. He is also a Senior Partner at Barrenjoey Capital Partners, providing strategic advice to boards and executives on capital markets, portfolio strategy, and governance.
Previously, Ken was Chief Executive Officer of Amcor Limited from 2005 to 2015, leading the company’s transformation into a global packaging leader. Under his leadership, Amcor expanded internationally, strengthened returns on capital, and built a global operating footprint of more than 200 sites across 40 countries, employing over 46,000 people, with annual revenues exceeding US$15 billion. During his 23-year career at Amcor, he held multiple senior leadership roles across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, gaining broad experience across developed and emerging markets.
Ken holds a Bachelor of Engineering from McGill University.
