NEP Acquires Stock of New Century Productions: NCP, NEP management invest in new holding company with American Securities Capital Partners
NEP Broadcasting, the leading international provider of outsourced teleproduction services critical to the delivery of live sports and entertainment events, today announced it has acquired the stock of New Century Productions of Allentown, PA. NCP and NEP management will co-invest with an investment affiliate of American Securities Capital Partners LLC in a new holding company that will own New Century Productions and all the domestic and international operating divisions of NEP Broadcasting. ASCP is a New York based middle market private equity firm.
"NCP is a full-service remote video production company that perfectly complements NEP's strategy to be the market-leading teleproduction services company in its industry, providing the broadest ranges of services and best execution to its customers," said Marc Saiontz, Managing Director, ASCP.
NCP will continue to operate under the NCP brand from its offices in Allentown, PA with its current staff providing service and support for their clients. Mike Werteen will be promoted to Senior Vice President and General Manager and be directly responsible for the division's operations. NCP co-founder Barry Fisher will join the board of directors of the new parent company.
New Century Productions began operations in 1984, with a single truck serving the regional sports market. Today NCP owns and operates 5 High Definition and 5 Standard Definition televisions trucks providing coverage of NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAA events for ESPN, CBS, FOX, CSTV, MASN, Comcast SportsNet. NCP's signature events include Sunday Night Baseball, World Series, US Open Tennis and the NCAA Basketball Final Four.
NCP Founder Richard C. Dean said, "We began NCP with the cooperation of then NEP President and Founder Tom Shelburne in 1984. Frankly those deep historic relationships paved the way for this transaction. We looked closely at their business model allowing companies they have acquired to remain largely autonomous. We believe this is the reason NEP companies like Screenworks, Studios and Visions remain industry leaders."
NEP Broadcasting's four divisions are ranked first in each of their respective industry segments. NEP Supershooters and its Denali unit is the industry gold standard with the largest, most technically advanced fleet of mobile production facilities supported by world class broadcast engineers. In the United Kingdom, NEP Visions and Roll To Record are the leaders in sports and entertainment mobile broadcasting and reality television facilities respectively. NEP Screenworks is the foremost provider of modular LED screens and mobile screen trucks for live entertainment and sports events. NEP Studios is the #1 provider of independent television production studios and services in New York City. American Securities acquired a majority interest in NEP in February 2007.
NEP CEO, Lou Borrelli says, "This deal makes perfect sense. The combined companies will create the global leader in live television production with 25 HD and 25 SD mobile units based in the US and UK, all supported by the industry's best mobile television engineering group. NCP customers will enjoy the best of all worlds - dealing with the same great NCP team now backed by the full technical resources and assets of NEP."
NCP will roll a new HD truck, NCP XI in April, 2008 - the first collaboration between design gurus Mike Mundt of NCP and Howie Naugle of NEP. The unit will be built by the NEP Systems Integration Group. NCP is also developing a new 20,000 sq ft field shop in Allentown that will be ready for occupancy in the first half of 2008.
