Our tradition of giving back is deeply rooted. Julius Rosenwald, William Rosenwald's father, dedicated the vast majority of his wealth to numerous charities including the construction of over 5,000 schools throughout the American South, the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry and the University of Chicago. By 1929, the generosity of Julius Rosenwald totaled more than $63 million, or over $750 million in today's dollar. Among William Rosenwald’s many philanthropic endeavors, he founded the United Jewish Appeal (UJA) and was a long-time Board member of Tuskegee University.
